Tradition
Reliability
Quality
Our family is very proud of its almost 80-year tradition of beekeeping with the Carniolan honey bee (Apis mellifera carnica), whose homeland is Slovenia. We have more than 2,000 beehives, which are distributed across various locations in north-eastern Slovenia: from the Pohorje Mountains to Dravsko polje, and over the Haloze hills.
In the territory of Slovenia, we have been cultivating the native breed of honey bee, Apis mellifera carnica, for centuries. It is one of the most famous and widespread breeds of bees in the world. We call it ‘Kranjska sivka’ in Slovenia, and it is also known as the Carniolan bee, Carnica Biene and Krainer Biene.”
We started breeding queens for the market in the 1970s as the quality of our bees gained recognition. Since then, we have bred almost half a million Carniolan queens. Selection is carried out from more than 2,000 beehives, which provide us a great selection of first-class breeding material.
