Our family has lived closely intertwined with bees for many decades. The beginning of Pislak Bali Beekeeping dates back to 1946. At that time, my father Janko Pislak, a legendary Slovene beekeeper, was 12 years old. He was born in a small village in Haloze to a farming family with many children. When he received some money for confirmation, he fulfilled his greatest wish and bought his first swarm of bees from a local beekeeper. My father devoted his whole life to bees and beekeeping. Everything he did, he did with great love and respect for nature, and bees in particular.
My father’s legacy is being continued by my family. Today, we have more than 2,000 beehives, which are distributed across various locations in north-eastern Slovenia: from the Pohorje Mountains to Dravsko polje, and over the Haloze hills.
We enhance our proven knowledge with new scientific and practical insights. We have a doctor of veterinary medicine and a beekeeping master (Imkerschule Graz) permanently employed at our company.
To date, we have bred almost half a million Carniolan queens. Our queen bees and their offspring live in all countries of the European Union, in Great Britain, Middle Eastern countries, Japan and elsewhere. They thrive in both warm and cold climates.
